Blogger is an hour ahead. This counts as Wednesday. Blogger, fuck off
So my sister has been given a car by generous new in-laws. This means she has offered her red car (formally my Mum's) to me and Mike.To me and Mike. As in, co-ownership. As in, yes, I'm drawing us a contract up as we speak.
Anyway, so this means I kind of need to learn to drive, right, to use the car? It also means the following conversations take place:
Me: I got overexcited about the car earlier.
Mike: Oh?
Me: Yes I went on Comfort's website and ordered their free sample air freshener.
[pause]
Except it's gone to the wrong house.
Mike: How?
Me: Because I still had my old address on paypal.
Mike: Paypal? Wasn't it free?
Me: Shit.
Mike: How much did you pay for a piece of cardboard? 50p I hope?
Me: Ten pounds.
Mike: I'm not sure I want to co-own anything with you.

Heh. :) You could just draw up a contract that said Mike ought to chauffeur you around town, and you can sit in the back and pretend you are in a cab. Except for when you BOTH want to be in the back. Wink, wink. ;)
Maybe I'm taking your account too literally, but wouldn't it be better if Mike would just say, 'It's your sister, it's your car.'
I would!
He can help with the running costs to the extent he benefits from using it. But a CONTRACT? Oh dear...
Kerriboberri! Am shocked and amused!
Andrew - you are a strange one. That would be a slightl bizarre response from M given that I said "let's share the car". a) because he can't just contribute because he'll be the only one using it, b) because it's in my best interests to make him mostly sole-owner since i can't actually drive hence the contract, c) because he's going to teach me to drive, d) because he's getting a job next autumn and would buy the car if we broke up.
I am absolutely terrified of the prospect of you being on the road!
No, it's the contract thingy that makes me cringe. Shouldn't he get some independent legal advice....?
